Some weddings are not defined by their size, but by the people who are there.
Sandie and Michael chose Archanes, a traditional Cretan village in the Heraklion region, for an intimate wedding surrounded by the people closest to them.
The day moved naturally from quiet preparations and their ceremony in the village to relaxed portraits through the streets of Archanes. Later, the celebration continued at Anadromes, where the atmosphere shifted into music, laughter and a warm evening with family and friends.
The day began quietly, with preparations unfolding at an easy pace.
There was no sense of rushing through a schedule. Sandie had time to take in the morning as it happened, while Michael’s preparation carried the same calm, focused energy.
Those early hours set the tone for the rest of the day — relaxed, personal and centred on the people around them.
Archanes gave the ceremony a sense of place without overwhelming it. The stone architecture, narrow village streets and soft natural light created a calm setting for the day.
When Sandie and Michael saw each other, the moment felt quiet and immediate. The ceremony unfolded naturally, with their attention fixed on each other and on the people who had travelled to share the day with them.
By the time everyone arrived at Anadromes, the atmosphere had changed completely. The quiet pace of the morning gave way to music, conversation and a much more relaxed evening.
Because the guest list was small, the celebration never felt anonymous. Sandie and Michael were surrounded by people who were genuinely part of their story, and that closeness carried through the reception and onto the dance floor.
It was intimate without feeling restrained — warm, lively and personal from beginning to end.
Sandie and Michael’s wedding is a good example of what a smaller celebration can offer. With fewer people and a more relaxed structure, there was time for the day to unfold without constantly moving from one scheduled moment to the next.
Preparations, the ceremony, portraits in Archanes and the evening at Anadromes all felt connected rather than rushed. The smaller scale did not make the day feel limited. It gave more space to the relationships, conversations and moments that mattered most.
