A sunset proposal by the sea, followed by champagne and a relaxed romantic picnic at Aposelemis Beach.
Nathan and Emma’s proposal took place at Aposelemis Beach, on the north coast of Crete.
The proposal itself remained simple. Nathan chose a place beside the sea and waited for the right moment as the evening light softened across the beach.
When he stopped and knelt down, Emma’s reaction moved quickly from surprise to emotion and laughter.
After she said yes, they stayed close to the shoreline for the first photographs together, before the evening continued with a romantic picnic and champagne on the sand.
The celebration did not end once the ring was on Emma’s hand.
Nathan and Emma sat together at the picnic setup, opened the champagne and had time to enjoy the engagement without immediately turning the experience into a formal photoshoot.
That created two distinct parts to the evening: the proposal itself and the quieter celebration afterward.
The photographs move naturally between both — Emma’s reaction, the ring, their first portraits as an engaged couple and the time they spent together beside the sea as the light faded.

A proposal is often planned around one precise moment: the question itself.
But what happens immediately afterward can influence the experience just as much.
Some couples prefer to move straight into portraits. Others want a few minutes alone before any further photography. A third option is to prepare somewhere to sit, open a bottle of champagne and allow the evening to continue naturally.
Nathan and Emma’s proposal followed this third approach.
After the initial surprise and their first photographs together, they moved into a relaxed picnic celebration beside the sea.
This changed the rhythm of the session. Instead of treating the proposal as the end point, the photography could document what happened afterward as well — the champagne, the conversation, the embraces and the quieter moments once the surprise had passed.
A setup therefore does not always need to be the visual centre of the proposal itself.
It can simply create a place for the couple to stay together after the “yes”.
